Hiring

Hiring Without the Guesswork / http://www.
I choose this article because I thought it related well to module 13, Recruitment and Selections. This in-depth article that deals with how to go out and recruit new employees over the old standard way of advertising, resumes, and job experience. It explains six different approaches on ways to over come stereotypical hiring methods were a good part of our decisions rest in the shadowy collection of vague impressions. It can be called many things from intuition to a gut reaction. If you really think about it this should be the company's number one priority because, without the right employees the company will suffer. When a company layoffs workers, each remaining worker has a greater effect on the company's performance. With the fast paced global economy you need more than just an order clerk. You also need that person to, fill in as a salesperson or analyze operations like a consultant, somebody who can contribute to the whole business. .
The first step is, recruit all the time. By recruiting all the time you have a pool of the best to pick from instead of whoever walks through your door. Step two, write a real job description. If you have a detailed job description, you will understand what to look for in a person to fit the job. Step three, interview according to plan. Have the interview laid out with questions you want to ask, how many interview will you give and at what level. The fourth step, do a personality test. When you give the test you need to realize there are no bad workers just a lot of people in wrong jobs. The best tests don't produce answers they produce a profile. Step five is keep score with the right goal in mind. Lastly, step six check references and reach past them by asking for further references. Overall I like the article and I thought it made a lot of sense. By following these approaches you will hire the right people and set your company up for success.
