It is a problem that splits society down the middle, either for it or against it. The debate over gun control has been around for many years, and it continues to grow. The Second Amendment states, "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." This is the main source of pro-gun activists in their fight to keep gun ownership legal. There are a few laws in our country that fight to help increase gun control, and one of them is the Brady Bill. I personally feel that as of right now our country has enough laws regarding gun control. I believe that there should be certain limits regarding gun control, but that citizens should still have the right to own firearms is they choose to do so.
We have the Second Amendment in our Constitution which, although debated, gives citizens the right to own firearms. Although times are different now than they were when the Constitution was written, I feel that every law-abiding citizen shall be able to privately own a gun. We are granted the right to own firearms, so I don't understand why gun-control activists continue to struggle to pass laws making gun ownership to everybody illegal. I understand their argument that there should be stricter laws regarding who can own them, but illegal to everybody? To me, that is like making it illegal to own a car or truck. Millions of people own cars just as they do guns, but that doesn't mean that everybody who owns one is going to use it as a weapon. A vehicle can be used just as deadly as a gun, if not even more. But to make it illegal to everybody is unjust. There are always going to be people who will abuse this privilege, just as there are people who abuse the privilege of driving a car. Although I am against gun control, I do feel that there are certain exceptions which I feel benefit society as a whole.
