Gun Control

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms,"said Thomas Jefferson, one of our founding fathers. This statement without question cannot be argued. While there has been many problems with guns in the United States, the owning of weapons have saved and preserved our freedom. "Gun control is the attempt to curb the sale and possession of guns in America in an effort to reduce violent crime"(Gun Control). By many it is interpreted as an attack on their Constitutional Rights. Guns have been a major problem in the United States, but an overall ban on Guns would do no good.
Many weapons are not needed on the streets of America. In society today there is an increasing number of deaths by guns. In response to gun violence, both Federal and State Governments have been prompted to take action. Many different bills proposed by anti-gun groups have been passed but there is still many more bills that have been knocked down with the outstanding power of the NRA, the main lobby group that is pro-gun. New bills are being proposed monthly, but there has yet to be one that is fair to the American society. There should be some type of law restricting some types of weapons and ammunition, but there should not be an overall ban on firearms to the American public.
Many Federal and State laws exist to help control guns, in hope to reduce crime. Laws differ greatly from state to state, some states have extremely strict gun control while others have very lenient restrictions on gun purchases. People own guns for a variety of reasons, throughout history the citizens of the U.S. have had that unique right. This controversial right has been debated many times by the Supreme Court.
Laws restricting guns are found everywhere across the country, according to different laws, they all differ greatly in context. If a criminal wants a Gun and the state he is in requires a waiting period and a background check, that person can simply journey across the border to a different state where he can obtain a weapon that day with absolutely no type of check.
