A Team Experience Within the Context of Social Psychology Principles of a Group.
Through this paper I hope to express my feelings of the group activity assignment I had in Social Psychology at Columbia College, in an online class. It will be my intent to provide you with this information by relating my schemas and well-known theories to my actual experience. You will have the opportunity to examine the decision process that took place behind the scenes of the class. I will also discuss alternative decisions that could have altered the outcome of the assignment. In the concluding of this paper I will express through my opinion the pros and cons of this class as well as my evaluation of my team mate. A team experience has many relations to Social Psychology. All individuals desire to maintain a positive self concept. This desire can cause conflict when individuals are appointed to comply with each other, whether this be in a team setting or within society dealing with every day task. My experience within a team oriented setting, will allow us to examine the conflicts between desires and schemas an individual must conquer. This my seem bias looking at only one individuals view point, considering it was a group experience. Through the insight of single individuals is how we have come to know Social Psychology. The constant need for us to reduce dissonance and maintain a positive self concept has a direct reflection on our action and attitudes.

How did I feel being placed in a group to submit an assignment? Initially I felt at ease, about working in a group, considering the paper was going to require quiet a bit of research to cover several theories. I was approached, via email, by a classmate, stating that she would like for myself and another classmate to form a team. The team was formed within a day of the assignment being posted.
