Gays, Lesbians, Transsexuals And Transvestites

Due to hate crimes and people who prejudge others, many gays and lesbians are secretive and have not "come out of the closet.".
Some people automatically assume that having a gay or lesbian friend opens the door for a gay or lesbian person to come on to them. In reality, gays and lesbians can usually tell when someone is interested in them or whether they are bisexual. If another woman were to come on to me, I would not be offended. I would simply tell her I was not interested or as many women say "strictly dickly." If any women tried to pursue further, I would definitely begin to have an irritated attitude. Society is defensive and makes a bigger deal out of bisexuals than necessary. Men seem to be more offended than women when someone of the same sex makes a pass at them. I think men's defensive behavior stems from society's pressure on them to be "manly," which results in bad behavior that hurts others. .
Society forms a subconscious "proper guide to how one should view other people." These emotions are often hard to alter which does not allow many people to be open minded toward transsexuals and transvestites. The millennium is bringing a new argument to the surface that states, when you are born you are assigned a sex, either male or female or intersexual. Individuals should be allowed to define their own gender as man, woman or transgender. Although this idea may seem farfetched, transgender people think society should understand their views. Transgender is a term that describes transvestites, transsexuals, and intersexuals, which is gender identification not sexual orientation. This complex form of behavior derives from many different roots for various reasons such as psychological stance, individual behavior and society's impact on others. Sometimes I wonder if the reason people are transsexuals and transvestites are about attention and the chance to stand out in society as a unique individual.
