Fight Club And Religion


Soon Tyler and the narrator start assigning what they call homework assignments. These assignments are a variety of different things such as starting a fight with a stranger, purposely loosing a fight with a stranger, and a range of other odd things. Soon the club members want to take on more responsibility to a cause that is formed from the homework assignments. Some recruits start standing outside of Tyler's house and later move in. This is soon known as POJECT MAYHEM. In project mayhem they form a small army and try do disrupt corporate America in many different ways. They replace airline emergency instructions with new pamphlets that show people in fear, or burning and dieing. Their final goal is to blow up many credit card buildings that hold the financial records of everyone's debt. They believe that if they erase ownership, and debt that they will create a new society free from the capital environment. Along the way the narrator encounters many people who love, and worship him, but also a woman named Marla Singer. Some how every thing in the narrator's life seems to go well until Marla comes into the picture. In the end like I said you would find out why the narrator never had a name, and the reason is because the narrator and Tyler Durden are the same person. It turns out that the narrator was living two lives. First he would see himself as the narrator, a person who was normal, someone with a set of beliefs. Second he saw Tyler, Tyler was someone that the narrator could fallow, and take orders from for things that he would never be able to do on his own. .
             Part II.
             The movie Fight Club relates to many different issues, and subjects that have been discussed in class. One example of this is in the way that Tyler's army for Project Mayhem had to go through many different rituals, and rights of passages. When trying to join Project Mayhems army the recruits had to abide by certain rules, and taboos.
