Sacraments are a very important part of our Christian Journey through life. As you know ways of doing things change over the years but we know the meaning of Sacraments haven't. .
At Baptism they were born in a special way into Gods family and Catholic Community.
At Confirmation they renewed the promises that were made at Baptism and received the Holy Spirit which is a real presence of Love, joy and peace within themselves.
Eucharist is the cup of thanksgiving for all that Jesus has done for them.(I remember one of my daughters saying she couldn't wait to taste the bread not realizing how much it really meant.
Reconciliation is to remind them of what Jesus way of forgiveness is like and we all know how hard it is to forgive sometimes.
While preparing for these special Sacraments of Confirmation, Eucharist and Reconciliation the children gathered in small groups once a week with a leader and parents and prayed, listened to biblical stories and sang hyms and .
Shared their thoughts on the topic of their workbook which was a large.
Part of their preparation of the Sacraments. It was such a lovely opportunity to spend that special time with your child. I feel my daughters benefited greatly .
From the celebration of each Sacrament as there was a great sense of belonging not only to their own family who always came together to help with the celebration of the Sacraments but also the catholic community. They also learnt how special each individual is in Gods eyes. The Children felt so special and important on these occasions. Hopefully the Sacraments will have some influence on them to make the right choices throughout life and hope God is an important part of each of their lives.
As each of the girls celebrated the Sacrament at different times they were all very special and can be remembered by photos, memrabillia and certificates which have been put in albums fro keepsake. I still have my preparation book and certificate from when I made my holy Communion so hopefully their sacraments will have the impact on them as much as it did on me from when I was younger.
