The man, the myth, the legend, these words are uttered by countless people in the twenty first century. Whether, one is speaking of a star athlete, a political hero, or one of their friends, it does not really matter. The only man in history that truly contains all of these qualities is one of the greatest thinkers and teachers of all time. Confucius was born more than 500 years before the coming of Jesus, and his thoughts and views of the world still live on today in everyone's live whether they know it or not.
Because of his life was full of journeys all over the western world, very little of his life is actually completely known. Born of noble descent, in his home land, called Ju, he led a very quiet and humble life (Lau 1). During the time of his youth, the Imperial rule was beginning to fail, and the rulers were changing. Confucius and his family were forced to leave their homelands of Ju, because of his ancestor's assassination. During this time the records of his parents were left somewhat uncertain, thus leaving the facts of his life inaccurate. This exile of his homeland began his life of eagerly seeking good and learning all he could. Upon leaving Ju, he went to Ch"i, where he had his first thoughts of life and saw the real world. Confucius did not like the men very much, for they did not act properly and treat people with the rites they deserved. For some time now in Confucius" life he traveled around the western world using his wisdom he has obtained meet lords and venture into new kingdoms, attempting to use this knowledge to influence the rule. He put his word into action in these areas with little use. This was not the way he wanted to use his learning's of life. The rulers did not appreciate the true meaning of a man's words and the true meaning of a man thinking for himself. After this attempt to use his knowledge, he returned to his home land of Lu, to teach people the meanings of words and the true way to learn and understand ones thoughts.
