In today's modern society everything can be done at the touch of a button. Yet, we still find ourselves lugging around heavy school books and using gobs of paper. Schools are doing nothing to prepare us for a world where technology rules, to do this schools need look outside the ordinary and replace all textbooks and worksheets with laptop computers for each student.
We all have our own envisions of what technology in the classroom should be like. Maybe, you think of something out of the Jetsons, or maybe you picture a classroom with a tele-teacher rather than a real one. No matter what you think, chances are these thoughts are only dreams (or hopes depending upon the teacher), but they don't have to be.
Your idea of classroom technology is probably alike with others in that it, it probably involves a computer for each student. Our school should utilize the uses of technology by converting our education system from books and paper to laptops and disks. However in order for this to happen they need to hear our voices. It's time for a revolution, in school that is. Call it a technological revolution, or call it kids for computers, it doesn't really matter what it's called as long as you know it's happening.
Schools have failed to realize that technology is no longer a luxury, it is a necessity. School, the very place that is supposed to prepare us for our jobs is failing miserably at theirs. Technology will be used whether you work at NASA or McDonalds. Still schools don't provide us with the tools to succeed in this dog-eat-dog world. .
Because technology has become such a fundamental part of society, it is necessary to integrate its use in education in a variety of ways. Today's technology can provide teachers and students with opportunities for teaching and learning that were impossible in the past. Computers can be used as devices for communicating with people literally a world apart.
