Comparison Of Three Articles

.
             Content Analysis Article #1.
In this article there were several very strong points that substantiated well and had good arguments. .
1-One of the common techniques used is circles that bring together victims, offenders, supporters of each, and other community members to discuss the effect of the offence, find strategies for repairing the harm done and reintegrating the offender into the community. This is a very good point because it is felt that in "normal" school settings, the relationship between offender and the school staff is described as "one-way". The offender (student) is bogged down by authoritarian controls and is now the victim instead of realizing what they did wrong and whom they victimized. .
2-Another strong point in this article is the fact that restorative justices engage in "relational rehabilitation", Bazemore defined it as " an approach that links crime to a breakdown in social relationships and hence prescribes a reintergrative response to crime focused on attempts to repair, rebuild and enhance bonds or ties between young offenders and their communities". This approach differs form traditional rehabilitation for three reasons:.
A-Rather than focus only on the offender, attention is equally paid to all of the people involved in a criminal event (ex.: school teacher, the offender's family, etc.).
B-Rather than keep it a counselor/offender relationship, the basis for the offender adjustment is in his or her natural or community relationships that need strengthening. .
             .
C-This approach extends beyond the focus of offender needs and obligations to the larger social context, building wherever possible links to the community to help deliver opportunities to the offender, such as education, job training, employment, and community service work. .
             .
This attempt to bring the community in on the rehabilitation process is truly and interesting idea. Rather than single out the offender, attempts are made to help the offender apologize and realize how he or she affected their community.
