Communism

A child may be playing with its ball, totally disregarding the rattle that is sitting down beside it. The second the rattle is taken away from the infants play pen, it will automatically cry desperately for it now wants its rattle. Therefore, as humans, the trait of greed is something that we are born with; we always want what we don't have and then strive to get what we don't have. Marx says that in a communist society, everyone will do the work that is the most fulfilling to them. The problem with this rationale can be related to the infamous Bill Gates. Did Bill Gates rise to the top of the computer industry because he had a sheer love for computers? Absolutely not. His true motivation lay in the goals to succeed, to better himself. He didn't give a darn about the computer itself, he cared only about the cash payment that resulted in his software advancements. Working for the good of all, as Marx puts it, deals with ways to better help society at the time. However, working for the good of all would also imply that there should be cautionary steps towards what happens in the future. In a society that works for the good of all, people would have to make sure that the lives lived by people in the following years would be as joyful as the ones being lived as of now. But, in fact, humans totally disregard the future. Why do sailors fish and fish and fish until all the fish are gone? Why humans continue to pollute our air today, without even pondering the implications that we may have to deal with in the future? The simple answer is because humans, as a trait of human nature, are fuelled by greed. Greed is the reason why countries are not doing anything about our growing air concerns; because any drastic measures would harm the economy. People do not care about their implications to others to because in the end, it is a dog eat dog world. This is why Marx's idea of working for the good of all cannot work, for humans greed halts any possibility of working for the good of everyone.
