Cloning In Today's Technology

These diseases are nearly impossible to cure with the government's ban and the absence of federal funding. But with human cloning research, not only will illnesses be cured, but also Lou Gehrig's along with Parkinson's will simply be considered as just names. On this view, it is not the case that technology development is always progress and that all technology is good. On the other hand, with the technology of genetic engineering scientists may finally be able to start to understand the causes of diseases and to develop possible treatments and even prevention.
Science has made some major discovery in the past fifty years. Two French researchers, by the names of "Jacques Monod and Francois Jacob, who in the 1950's wanted to learn the means by which genes turn on and off in living creatures" (Krogh 277). If it were possible to manipulate genes, than it would be possible to turn cancer cells off and prevent it. People diagnosed with cancer could have treatment to have it removed from their system. Imagine how many lives would be saved if all cancer cells could be turned off. Cloning is not just an advantage to the medical field. .
Cloning would provide a link for a replacement to artificial insemination."Cloning is being considered as a means of helping infertile human couples have babies" (Berger). Couples, who are unable to produce offspring for whatever reason and do not wish to adopt can have child who is biologically related to them. You would have the option of getting to choose what your child's gender and what he or she will look like. Plus, women who are single could have a child using cloning instead of artificial insemination. Natural cloning occurs too. All plants, some insect, algae, unicellular organisms that conduct mitosis or binary fissions, and identical twins are all clones of each other. "In fact, you probably know some clones. Identical twins are clones of each other, both of them came from the same fertilized egg cell" (Berger).
