Census Report For Bronx, Kings, And Nassau

9%. The reason for this is because of the difference in the white population vs. the black population. We know that Nassau has a much higher white population than the Bronx and Kings. Other statistics given in the classroom stated that 54% of female headed households are headed by black women. .

             Female Headed 30.4% 22.3% 10.9%.
             Median Income for Females $29,429 $30,516 $37,446.
The second table shows us the percentage of households that are female headed and what the average income for a female is for the year 2000. Nassau County only has 10.9% of female headed households while the Bronx and Kings have between 20 and 30%. The females in Nassau County also earn approximately $7,000 more in their yearly income than females residing in the Bronx and Kings. When compared this data proves that women who are the head of their household will make less money than a woman who is not because they probably won't be able to work the same amount of hours that a woman who is either single or married may be able to. Also a single or married woman may have more education because they either don't have the responsibility of children or their husbands are there to help out. On top of these problems women are discriminated against because many bosses will not hire a woman because she may have to go on maternity leave. This makes it hard enough for woman so being a head of a household as a female can put many women below the poverty line.
