Nurturing Yourself & Others

Nurturing Yourself and Others was a self-encouraging book aimed at making you aware of the different ways to help improve your personal skills with yourself and others around you. Lee Schnebly did a very good job keeping the text of serious content reasonably cheery through her humorous personal stories and advice. Many times while reading a self help book or listening to any advice for that matter from a "therapist type" we may dismiss them as being one of those people who do not experience the same problems we do. One may miscalculate how humanly connected people are. Lee does a great job making this assurance known at the beginning as she explains her own personal struggles and how down and out she was before creating this guide to filling your life with happiness. I feel that the author did a wonderful job covering some major personal issues such as relationships, sex, how to let things go, self-esteem, encouragement, risk taking, priorities, feelings, and many more. Her concept of "apples" was a humorous, but practical tool used to explain many issues of being overdrawn. The repeated use of this was a great baseline to follow throughout the book. .
In conclusion, I believe that Nurturing Yourself and Others was a great instructional tool filled with examples and strategies to help you better understand yourself and others, thus assisting any reader to better understand and manage the everyday struggles we encounter.
