As I did my research on the religious beliefs of Amish it was interesting to get these facts. The church sets the rules for the community, so their whole lives revolve around this religion. They believe that a woman's place is in the home with no career, the only exception would be if a female were single or newly married. In this case she is able to work as a housemaid, a mother's helper, or in an approved store. Once a women has a child she must quit her job. The role men play in this community is they are seen as the bosses, however above the men are the rule makers which are the Bishops and Deacons.
Founded in the late 17th century by Jacob Amman began as a split-of sect of the Swiss Mennonites. Amman based his beliefs on the practices and writings the 1632 Mennonite faith. Because of the strong beliefs they reject most of the developments of modern society. Some of their beliefs include conservation of he Christian faith. However there are some differences: .
-they believe in remaining separate from the rest of the world.
-they reject involvement with military or warfare.
-each district is autonomous-there is no centralized Amish organization.
-they avoid to seek converts.
The actual practicing of their religion includes speaking in German during worship. As well as seeing marriages outside the faith not allowed. Marriage ceremonies are held in the homes during the months of November and December. Services are held in homes biweekly on Sundays, each week being at a different home. Funerals are held in homes with no eulogy, flowers or other displays, simply a plain casket. .
Amish people believe that if they partake in a regular high school their religion will be destroyed. Minorities of religious groups are known for their shunning of modern convinces and they"re driving of horses and buggies. Some people feel that Amish training is the best way to learn because it is learning by doing.
