He moves to Argentina because he didn't like the atmosphere that the new leader of Rio prevailed. He lived in Argentina for two year. While living there his biography of the Bahian romantic poet ABC de Castro Alves was published in Sao Paulo.
             The following year, in 1942 he Published Vida de Luiz Carlos Prestes, el caballero de la esperanza. Which is a biography of Luiz Carlos, a Brazilian communist leader. A Collective novel, Brandao entre o mar e o amor, which means Between the sea and love. All of this was published in Argentina. He tried to go back the brazil and when he did he was jailed upon he arrival to Brazil. Released upon condition he remain in Salvador. He began to write daily colums about he world war for O imparcial.
             In 1943 Terras do sem fim was published when Jorge was living in Montevideo, Uruguay. He was elected vice president of First Congress of Brazilian Writers. He gets Legally separated from his wife Matilde Garcia Rosa. He published Sao Jorge dos Ilheus, however it didn't do that well. Later he marries Zelia Gattai and moves to Sao Paulo then .
             published Bahia de Todos os Santos, a guide to the city of Salvador. Jorge got elected to the Chamber of Deputies on the Communist party slate representing the state of Sao Paulo.
             In 1946 Moves to Rio to assume duties as a federal deputy and publishes another novel Seara vermelha. This novel became the most translated of Jorge's work.
