Aids

Brakedown of the immune system results from the dysregulation and destruction of t helper cells or CD4 lymphocytes. Because t-helper cells are the primary agent in fighting disease, they fail to recognize the problem, and the host becomes ill. .
The virus speads through the lymphatic system and lymphoid tissue becomes a reservior for HIV replication. As the disease progesses, viral particles enter the blood and results in infection of the body tissues where the virus began to replicate in microphages. Reproduction in these areas causes the microphages to burst, allowing the disease to spread to the surrounding tissue, and going into the bone marrow. The skin, lymph nodes, central nervous system, lungs and bone marrow are infected in this mannor. .
There are many symptoms of HIV and are different with many patients. The earliest sign is having flu like symptoms. These include fever, abdominal pain, coughing, chills, diarrhea and cancer. Other symptoms are disorders of the lymphatic system, muscle and joint pain, malaise, oral lesions, night sweats, sink rash, shortness of breath, sore throat disorientation and wight loss. .
Diagnosing HIV/AIDS beings with diagnosis of any or a combonation of theses symptoms. If any symptoms are present, and the person is believed to have engaged in risky behavior to catch the virus, further testing is done. The first test is called the ELISA or enzyme immunoassay antibody test to detect the presence of HIV antibodies. If this test is positive, the same blood is tested a second time. If the second ELISA is positive, a Western blot is performed. This a more specific and confirming test. Blood that has tested positive to all three tests will be reported as postitive for HIV. If the results are inconclusive, the test is repeated in four to six weeks. If the results were negative, the person is not clear from disease because the seroconversion takes up to three months after the inital infection enters the body.
