            War is one of the most tragic things in our world today.

             On the morning of September 1st 1939, the world was forever changed as .
             Germany invaded Poland and executed its first "Blitzkrieg" or "Lightning attack", .
             quickly crushing Polish resistance. Russia and Germany signed a non-aggression pact .
             days before the attack on Poland. Seeing that Germany was dominating with barely any .
             interference, Stalin knew that he needed an ally to survive. He turned to Britain for help .
             but was denied so he then turned to Germany. Germany agreed and they signed a .
             non-aggression pact. With the agreement, Russia and Germany would attack Poland. On .
             September 1st Soviets attacked Poland from the east and Germany attacked from the west .
             of Poland. With the conquer of Poland Hitler decided to go after his original goal of .
             obtaining living space. He decided not to go after Britain and went after Russia. On June .
             1941 Nazi invaded Russia and was in Moscow by October. Russia seemed on the verge .
             of collapsing but bounced back by the spring of 1942 halting the German attack. Russia .
             began claiming victory after victory pushing the Nazi back. As the war was ending the .
             U.S. began to think the soviets were unstoppable and wanted to meet with theme.

             The big three major powers meat in February 1945 in Yalta. While in Yalta, .
             Stalin, leader of the Soviet Union, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and U.S. .
             President Franklin D. Roosevelt considers the fate of Poland along with other matters. .
             While there they agreed that the Soviet Union should have influence in Eastern Europe, .
             Poland should have its own government and Germany should be divided into four pieces.
