The third floor room of the cabin was glowing with laughter and the radiance of young boys, playing with their new Christmas presents. The morning was fresh, and yet the kids had been up for hours, playing and giggling and drinking hot cocoa. Today was the big day for us all, the day that we got a whole bunch of new toys to play with. They were also happy because they didn't have to go to school for about two weeks, a tradition that the boys looked forward to every school year. .
My family and friends had rented a cabin up in the mountains, far away from any civilization, to spend the Christmas break. We went to the cabin, expecting peace and quiet, but all we got, were a bunch of screams and yells at 3 in the morning from a bunch of kids. .
Uncle Tom was sitting by the fire with Aunt Mariah, telling old stories and laughing about their adventures in China. My grandma was talking with my dad about how nice the cabin was and how she was having a lot of fun. All in all, everyone was having a good time and enjoying their break from the hustle and bustle of city life. .
Everyone was getting his or her boots and coats on, preparing for a fun morning of sledding down the gigantic hill behind the cabin. We were all about to leave when I heard a noise come from upstairs. I told my parents that I would catch up with them in a few minutes, and went upstairs to investigate the noise that I had heard. I peered through all of the doors and closets but could not find anything unusual. After a few minutes of searching around, I decide it was nothing, and went down stairs, got my shoes on, walked outside, and locked the door. .
I began to walk up the sledding hill were everyone seemed to be having a good time. All of a sudden, I heard a loud scream, come from inside the house. I turned around quickly to see what the noise was, and saw a shadow through my window. The shadow appeared to be hacking away at something.
