The Crucifixion of Christ is the culminating event of thousands of years of prophecy and over thirty years of the life and teachings of our Messiah Jesus Christ. It marks also and most importantly the covenant between the church and God.
However, as is painfully obvious out in town and even in this school, people get confused with the ways of God and the ways of the "world", which are two separate entities.
The people of the "world" rationalize this way; they look at Christ as merely a prophet, and therefore their view of The Last Supper and the crucifixion is a bitter and doleful event that needlessly ended the life of a great man. This is so wrong, in fact it can't be farther from the truth.
The people of the church, however, look at the prophecy and look at the teachings of the Son of God, and rejoice in the forgiveness of sins bought with the Blood of Christ, even though it meant His great suffering and betrayal. To forget that He died for our shortcomings is the same as never having faith in Christ himself; the whole point is missed.
Therefore, it is the duty of us as Christians to uphold His church and His teachings. That, however is not enough. We must make the church bigger, like the motto of my church back home in Fresno, "Win the lost and Disciple the found". We need to teach and remind others that Christ was not just a man, but the Savior.
