The Power Of God Against The Guns Of Government

The power of God was the only force that would lead them in their daily lives and without a doubt; God was the only one to obey. The local governments saw this as a problem since their power was obsolete with God on the other side in the forms of many villagers in Tomochic. The big problem in this situation for the gov't was that they created it themselves. Shouts of "We obey no one but God" were becoming a definite sign of rebellion against those who opposed the church and a definite warning to those that Cruz Chavez and his people would not stop at anything short of a victory to live and act on their beliefs. .
The rebellion of Tomochic was not an instant campaign of believers and followers. It was a slow process, but eventually a strong one. The faith in God was not only a strong one, but an invincible one. The people of tomochic felt they were destined to take the power of god into their own hands and lead others against the non-supportive that ruled the village. Jefe politicos and governors didn't use God as a judge of right and wrong. No morals were put into the thought process of making decisions for those of the villages and those that affected themselves. Money and power were the driving forces of those in charge and led them to forget about the power of God. Many acts of the gov't were those that affected the people and their well being. By "well being" I refer to their money, food, homes, and land. Another of the factors that was being "played" with was that of the civil liberties or lack thereof in this case. Public office, no matter how menial the job, was an invitation to advance and advantage over the civilians. Despicable acts by certain individuals only led to more trouble for that person for their political advancement, as well as their social likings. As in Politics today, once removed from office, your power diminishes, some quicker than others. In cases such as Reyes Dominguez, the people of Tomochic, especially Cruz had been exploited by the abuse of his power while in office.
