Thanks, To All The Little People

For example when she describes Miss Moore she says "goddamn college degree" (Bambara, 438) and she made the reader fell as if Miss Moore were an outcast for dressing like she was going to church everyday. She hates how everyday Miss Moore dresses nicely, because she doesn't have nice clothes to wear everyday. On page 440, Sylvia doesn't understand why all of this is making her so mad. When she is in school or around her peers she is always the best and the smartest. She never had to deal with competition. And now all of a sudden she is in a totally different world where everyone is living better than she.
This all is a shock to her. .
Not only does the setting shock Sylvia but how Sugar changed abruptly. Sugar, Sylvia's best friend is the other character that defines Sylvia. Sugar is like Sylvia's follower. She does and says everything that Sylvia says or does. She never disagrees and that is why Sylvia likes her so much. Outside of the toy store, in the end, Sylvia stands on Sugars foot so that she would not continue showing off what she knows, but Sugar is tired of following her and pushes her off and continues to speak with Miss Moore. Sylvia tries stepping on her foot again to test her authority. Sugar finally notices Sylvia and she stops talking. Sylvia can't stand people that are better or smarter; she was about ready to drop dead when sugar disobeyed her. Sylvia is the head of her gang and she would like to keep it that way. She lives in the poor part of Manhattan and everyone in the story can see that she is proud if it. " everyone was old and stupid or young and foolish and me and sugar were the only ones just right-(Bambara, 437). Sylvia was loosing her rank in her social standing so fast that even minor characters like Rosie Giraffe start speaking their minds. ""Who wants to know about your smelly-ass stationary," say Rosie Giraffe fore I can get my two cents in.
