Plato


Imagination can be something that you think you can see but it is actually not there like reflections or echoes. In book VII, Myth of the Cave, is the perfect example of the four levels of knowledge. I agree that there are levels of knowledge; however, I disagree with the fact that in the first level of the visible world, reason he thinks that the good, the true, the beautiful, courage and justice are needed to reach to this level. I don't think you nee to have all those things in order to have knowledge because first of all who defines the good, the true, the beautiful and so on.
             According to the article Plato's Republic by Jenny Hen, Plato makes a connection between the principle of justice and his Theory of Forms. He also talks about the Ideal State and how one should never act without knowledge. Plato believed that wisdom, courage, moderation and justice together form The Republic. By combining these four virtues each one can produce the ideal society. The basis of the perfect city will be based on the four virtues. Wisdom was defined in Greek terms a "Sophia", as knowledge of the city as a whole. Plato regards a philosopher as one loves wisdom and has passion for knowledge and wants to keep expanding his brain. A true philosopher is characterized by his love for the truth because if he loves truth then he will always be honest. Plato also believed that the man who sees beauty itself has knowledge and the man who sees only beautiful things has mere belief. Courage is the preservation of the opinion produced by law, through education about!.
             what things are terrible, and what things are good. Plato defines moderation as the ability to control desires and to be the master of ones self. There are two things at work in a man's heart; the good and the bad. The bad can overwhelm the good. He also defines justice as minding one's business. If you don't mess with someone else then no one will mess with you and everything will be in peace.
