Nowadays more and more teens are getting pregnant and having abortions, secretly and easily. Their own parents have no idea whatsoever and abortion has become a smaller and less important issue. I believe, if a teenager is 16 years old or younger and they are still residing with their parents, that their parents should be involved in the decision making and support of this critical issue. Kids are obviously taking this abortion opportunity for granted and not understanding the seriousness of sex and parents have the right to know and guide their children. Regardless, these kids deserve the support they need and their parents should be there to give it to them.
Parents should be involved in the process of abortion, firstly because they have the right to know of such serious issues taking place in the lives of their teens. Most of there parents/guardians have raised these kinda since they were babies and there is no reason why such matters should be kept secret now especially because these kids need their parents. It is disrespectful for a teenager to leave their parents out of such a decision, even though they may have to deal with embarassment and maybe even some consequences. In most cases, these kids weren't making any wise decisions and it is time for the adults to get involved and take control. I am sure every parent would like to know that they were involved in one of the most serious issues to take place in their child's life and that they were able to guide them along the correct path.
Another reason I believe parents should be involves with their teens and abortions is because their kids simply need the support as this is a very difficult time. Teens will often turn to their peers which could be a smart decision, but on the other hand, could not be. Terminating a pregnancy and dealing with the distress can scar any person for life, old or young. Family support and guidance can offer the best, mean the most and is definitely needed to make things easier.
