Ordination Of Women

The church feels tradition should be kept and by keeping women out they would be doing so. Is this right though? With the amount of shortages for priests these days allowing women in may not be a bad idea and that is one reason the church considers ordaining women. It is a very difficult situation to attack or defend because there is no definite answer for it. Now here are the supporters. Their main and strongest argument is saying that there is a shortage of priests. The statistics do show a drop in clergy over the past few years and by ordaining women the numbers are believed to go up. They believe ordaining women would be a good move in the direction of ecumenical unity. The supporters see this as a plus but what about the church? No one really understands why he or she wouldn't attempt to try and improve clergy members. Supporters say a woman's position in the church should keep pace with the evolution of her position in civil society. To a lot of people this seems accurate. Women are equal to men in society so why not in the church to? These points clarify what differences there are between the two sides on women's ordination. You can clearly see the issue of ordaining woman. After reviewing all these ideas, I started to believe the good out weighs the bad in this situation. I found many better arguments for rather than against women's ordination. The fact is that clergy is declining. Priests are needed and the shortage is only going to get worse. I will go more depth into my beliefs at the end of the paper in the final paragraph. .
Another vital piece that supports my stance is parts from the bible. There are many passages that show support for women's ordination. I will show bible passages that support my view. In Acts 9:36: Paul refers to a woman as a disciple and in Acts 18:24-26 describe how Priscilla and Aquila both acted in the role of an official pastor to a man from Alexandria, called Apollos.
