One Child

This was probably an effort on Torey's part to make the classroom as non-restrictive as possible. Torey's classroom change would help to change part of the environment, which would fall under the Ecological Model.
The main character who I am going to identify is Sheila. Sheila is a six-year-old child who wears the same pair of overalls and shirt everyday. Sheila's hygiene is just atrocious and nothing is being done about it at home. Although Sheila displays characteristics of someone with Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD), and Conduct Disorders, I believe that she cannot be classified as having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). On pages 22 and 23 of the book we are bombarded with some of the behaviors needed to classify her behavior as being ADHD, ODD and/or Conduct Disorders. However, on page 23 her behaviors are described as being somewhat voluntary; Sheila left the chair when she needed to go to the bathroom.
I would definitely have to say that Sheila exhibited the characteristics of someone with ODD and consequently leads to some displayed Conduct Disorders. Sheila fits the Aggressive definition of ODD to a tee; harm, injury or discomfort to people or damage to property. These actions are definitely observable when she refuses to write out papers for Torey. There is an identifiable victim when Sheila gouged out the eyes of the fish on page 31. Sheila definitely had intent to harm Torey with the pencil when Torey was stabbed in the arm.
I would have to conclude also that the behaviors that Sheila displayed also falled under the classification of having some Conduct Disorders. These behaviors have been displayed for more than 6 months, and there are definitely more than 3 behaviors present. Some of these behaviors include Sheila fighting, having disobedience, being destructive, mean, and vengeful, and also having verbal or physical aggression toward others.
