Concept

The film I intend to make will emphasis the feelings of loneliness, abandonment and rejection of a teenage girl who feels ostracised by society and forsaken by those who love her. She feels trapped in herself and confined by the conventional restrictions of society, and this is represented by flashing images of a male in a straitjacket, unable to escape expectations and break free. The film shows her inner turmoil and rather than hides and covers it, glorifies it with posed and deliberate masochistic and destructive behaviour. .
To emphasis the feelings of loneliness the girl will be the sole character for the majority of the film with the exception of one instance, in which she rejects the society and people she feels rejected her. .
I will use slides with words imprinted on them, representing her thoughts, to create a harsh and brutal environment within her mind, showing an unstable emotional state of mind. This is portrayed blatantly later on in the film with deeper insights into the girl's mind through fantasies or visualisations of suicide scenes and her macabre fascination with blood and torment. As sad, depressed and miserable as this girl is, the film is a story of her escape from this world in many ways - through her imagined death, through the use of damaging and hurtful words and through the inclusion of her eventual escape from the straitjacket - the prison of society - and a subtly implied acceptance of herself. .
The film is a critique of the current society, and its refusal to accept those who are different. .
             Audience.
This film is intended for a mature audience, due to the potentially disturbing content of some of the included scenes and the general ideas of the film. I am aiming it at adolescents and young adults, as the content is most relevant to this age group and these people are more likely to accept the nature of my film and consider it with an open mind. .
The issues dealt with affect all people but adolescents mainly: as we strive for acceptance and compete to be included in the exclusive, cliquey teenage social arena, there are many left by the wayside, and of those a number have lost hope and rejected those who they feel hate them.
