In 1498 he joined a civil service under the republican regime of Piero Soderini. He also served as Secretary to the Ten of Liberty and Peace and was secretary to the Nine for Militia and Second Chancellor of the city. He was also credited with the singlehanded creation of the Florentine Militia. On June 22 1527 Niccolo Machiavelli died, he was known as the father of modern political science.

His most famous book was The Prince, he also wrote The Discourses on the First Ten Books of Titus Livy, The Discourse on the War with Pisa, Report on the Fortifications of Florence. He also wrote The life of Castruccio Castracani, The Art of War, Dicourse on Reform of the Government of Florence, and the History of Florence. Niccolo wrote plays like Mandragola, Clizia, Belfagor, and A Discourse on Language. He composed poetry like On Ambition, The First Decade, and Ass of gold.

to be feared than loved." Finally, " You shouldn't make promises to the public if it is going to hurt you, and you have to learn how to deceiteful." These theories have influenced such powerful leaders as Joseph Stalin, Adoft Hitler, and Richard Nixon.
