Philosophy on Missions

"Then Jesus said to them: All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.".
I believe that the goal of Missions should be to help lost souls find salvation from Jesus Christ. When doing missions in foreign fields, nothing can overcome the language and cultural barrier like the love of Christ. We can meet their physical needs, but the love we share will give them much more. In order to do missions the way Christ wants, missionaries must be willing, have patience, and be pure. .
Missionaries must be willing. God blesses those who are willing to give up themselves to share Christ with others. No matter if you are over seas or across town it takes effort. Your patience and strength will be tested. You can never be lazy. When you see the changes you are making in peoples lives and the smiles on children's faces, it will all be worth it. .
Missionaries must have patience. We must learn to wait on prayer. We cannot expect to do it all and know it all. Things will not always go our way, we must except it and move on. We must remember God sees the whole picture when we only see part of it. .
Missionaries must be pure. "If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. (II Timothy 2:21)" The biggest challenge a missionary will face will be keeping their relationship with Christ where it needs to be. Sometimes we tend to focus so much on what others are doing and how their relationship is with Christ, that we forget about our own personal relationship.
You must never be afraid of what God wants you to do. " Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations for ever and ever! Amen.
