On December 25 1991, when Mikhal Gorbatchev announced his resignation as the general secretary of the communist party, the USSR ceased to exist. This event put an end to the Cold War: the conflict that had frightened the world for almost fifty years. In America, politicians were celebrating their victory over the Soviet Union. So, since no other country can challenge the United States for world's economic and military dominance anymore, a lot of people from all over the world think that it implies that it is the best country to live in. However, USA is not the nation which offers the highest quality of life, because of there is no public health care in this country, more than 37% of the population lives below poverty rate and there are a lot of social problems, such as racism and drugs, under the star spangled banner.
South of the border, there is no public health care, even if health is one the biggest concern of each and every human beings. It means that if an American is sick, he has to pay to be healed. So, if he doesn't have enough money, doctors will not try anything to save him. It implies that those who can pay receive adequate treatments, while poor people are left on their own. When you take a look at the recent statistics, you realise that it is completely absurd to cure only the richest, because it has recently been proven that a poor has more chance to be diseased than a rich, because of his lifestyle. So, it is obvious that a country that doesn't think about the health of its citizens is not the best place to inhabit.

However, many people will say that health care is not free because a large majority of the population has enough money to pay for it. These persons should take a look at the statistics before saying such things. In fact, more than 37 % of the Americans live below poverty rate, even if America is considered as the wealthiest country on the planet. So, there are nearly 100 000 000 poor Americans, even if they live in Earth's richest country.
