Legalization Of Marijuana

This has made marijuana a more portable, potent, and an appealing drug, the exact opposite of the result intended by law enforcement. .
Common myth about marijuana is that it serves as a gateway to other drugs; that most cocaine users once smoked pot is offered as support for this position. Marijuana does not enjoy the social acceptance of alcohol and is therefore a politically convenient target for allegations. An individual inclined to escape reality through the medium of substance abuse will gravitate into the response to life whether or not the drugs are legal. Legalizing marijuana will neither increase nor decrease the number of people inclined toward, or indulging in, marijuana. Marijuana should be legalized because it has been and still is used widely all over the world, because it can be used for medical purposes, and because it is not a "gateway" to the use of other drugs and violence.
Legalization of marijuana should be done because it has been and still is used widely all over the world. The issue of cannabis legalization has been debated ever since the substance was made illegal on April 14, 1937. Reformers still press legislation today to make the psychoactive plant available to medical patients as well as the general adult population. One of their main arguments is that our constitution promises us the right to decide for ourselves what to do or what not to do. Using marijuana is a personal choice and if it leads to self-murder than be it, because we have a right to make that choice for ourselves (Evans and Berent 65). Some of those reformers argue that our government bans marijuana not because of the substance that is in it, but because of pleasure that it gives. That pleasure is given off by manipulation of chemicals that we already have in our bodies. So, why is it illegal for adults to experience pleasure responsibly (Linker 6)? People smoked marijuana before, and still do in many other countries.
