Integrated Learning

Not only was the potentially very smart kinaesthetic learner switching his mind off the subject at hand, but he was also disrupting the minds of those close to him, lowering their concentration and in turn slowing their education. The unruly student would be sent to receive punishment, usually in the form of the cane or afternoon detention, which had the snowball effect of pushing his mind further away from the schools wish of education, and more to the destruction of the school system. .
This entire scenario could have been easily prevented by keeping the student interested in the class, sometimes as simple as getting everyone on their feet for a minute and jump up and down. I know this works, as I have seen it in a university subject, and it has an astounding effect on helping the students return to reality and concentrate on the subject matter. All it took was a little physical exertion and total change from the subject that was originally planned, and the entire feeling of the room changed in the space of about 3 minutes. .
Today, people are starting to realise that just because a student does not learn as fast or thorough as another, it does not mean that he is stupid, only that he has a different type of intellect. If he is mathematical/logical, then most idea's he will digest will be in the old style schooling, straight down the line in logical steps and most likely using lots of numbers. A linguistic learner is one who can listen to a lecture all day, and take in everything that gets said, understand it and learn, leaving the mathematical learner behind. A visual learner must use pictures or visual aids to understand a concept. His mind is stimulated more by his eyes than his ears, and so will learn more thoroughly from what he sees. The musical learner has to have everything in a beat, or to a tune for the brain to take it in. Even just playing music in the background will help this person.
