Indonesia

This is similar to the United States in some way, but different in others. In the United States the President and legislature work together to select Supreme Court justices, but the President appoints them and the legislature approves them.
When it comes to foreign policy Indonesia has had several approaches. With the "New order" government Indonesia has moved away from an anti-Western approach and is displaying a moderate foreign policy. With this philosophy Indonesia is implementing a free and active type of foreign policy that is helping to them to play a role in regional affairs that help to take advantage of its size and location. Even with this type of policy Indonesia is trying to avoid involvement in conflicts among major powers. Although, while trying to broaden foreign relations, Indonesia has become part of several international organizations and they have also taken steps to open foreign trade, mainly with Japan, the United States, western Europe, and Australia.
With these factors in mind there are several agricultural problems that come with the location and general profile of the country. For example, with only 10 percent of Indonesia's land being arable and the vast population there is very little land for each person. Therefor farms tend to be small and consist of a subsistence type of agriculture. To compromise for this the country is participating in foreign trade with other countries to acquire food for their population. This makes Indonesia dependent on other countries for their food supply.
Another problem that arises is the natural hazards that occur with the location of Indonesia. The country is plagued by occasional floods, severe droughts, and tsunamis, which are very damaging to the yields of crops. The country is trying to dealing with these problems by adapting the environment to fill their needs. To do this Indonesia has implemented irrigation practices with about 45,970 square kilometers of irrigated land.
