Forte Point

I continued down the hall and saw other rooms like the filling room and the "hot shot- room. In this room is where they could heat cannonballs in a furnace until red hot and then shoot them at enemy ships to set the on fire. There were also 6 or 7 restored cannons in the casements of the yard.
I then went up one of the granite spiral stair cases at the end of the yard to the second level of the fort. On this story of the fort were many more casements for cannons but they were all empty. There were also two smaller powder magazines and the officers quarters. I went into the officers quarters and was surprised by how large they were. There was room for a table, chairs, a desk, and a full sized bed. There was also a fire place in each room. One of the rooms had recreated furniture and other items that would be found in the officer's room and many signs that described what life was like for the officers living in the fort. And the end of the row of quarters was the officer's mess hall and medical dispensary. Both of these rooms had been restored and much of their furniture recreated. There were also many signs and displays that detailed what the officers diet consisted of and in the medical room there were display cabinets with what looked like ancient torture devices. The sign said they were tools used by the doctor at the fort. Thank god for modern medicine.
I continued down to the end of the hall and travel out to the casements and up the other granite spiral staircase to the 3rd floor. Again on this level the majority of the space was dedicated to mounted cannons and powder storage. I went into the hallway and the top of the stairs found myself in the enlisted men's quarters. These were the same size as the officers quarters but instead of house one or two men these held at least 10 in bunk beds that were barely big enough for 2 men to share each one. I continued down the inner hall that linked all of the quarters together and in each room there were many different displays.
