Accidents happen everyday within a city. Sometimes these accidents involve a motorcycle. Motorcycles are dangerous to ride, not just because they are open and only two wheeled, but most people in a big city do not look for motorcycles. There are some things a rider can do in case of an accident to prevent major injury to themselves. One technique, used by riders who have taken a safety course or with years of experience, is to "dump" the motorcycle. By "dumping" the motorcycle the rider is laying the bike down on its side while still moving. .
The aspects of laying the motorcycle down while in motion seem outrageous at first but it helps a lot when the rider knows the vehicle. Size of the motorcycle determines how hard it is going to hit the ground of course, but it determines if the rider will be able to seperate themself from the bike after laying it down. Certain styles of motorcycles are much easier to "dump" than others. Smaller, sportier motorcycles are lighter, in turn easier to separate the rider from the bike. These bikes do not take a lot of effort to lay down either. Heavier bikes are harder to lose control on, but at the same time or much harder to lie down in case of an accident. The riders must be able to push themselves from the heavier bike. They cannot just let go and hope for the best. The rate of speed plays a huge variable in laying a bike down. The rider will not want to be sliding on the ground for very long, for fear of tearing through clothing into the skin. Road rash is not an easy thing to recover from.
A rider will need to think about many things very quickly incase of an accident. Such things are when to dump the bike, which side to lay the bike down on, and most importantly where the rider will put himself as the bike is being put down on to the ground Elaborate more through this point.
Precautions the can be taken by the rider are .
Ride smart, ride safe, or don't ride at all .
