In 1969, David Milgaard was accused for murder and sentenced for life.
jail they re-opened the case and took DNA testing and realized that it was not him who killed Gail Miller. It was not right for him to suffer for so long. How could they not get this right the first time in our country.
Gail was a 20 year old student who was studying to become a nurse. After 30 years on November 22, Larry Fisher was convicted with first degree murder. Before he was convicted he was in jail for seven different counts of rape charges. They say it is a coincidence that David was linked to the murder weapon. Everything was traced back to David's friend's house. Also the same house where Fisher and his wife lived in the basement.
David Milgaard's mother wrote a book on David. She said that David was just a typical teenager who liked to have fun. She knew that David was into drugs and wanted to hang out with his friends all the time. While David was convicted to life in prison, David's mother Joyce believed her son was innocent the whole time. Her and a whole team of lawyer fought on behalf of David's case. After so many year of Joyce fighting for David the Supreme Court of Canada reviewed the case. In 1970, when he was sentenced the jury did not know about the fact of Fisher admitting to several rapes in the same area. Maybe they would not have convicted David. They say when Fisher raped the girls, they say he would clamp his hands over their mouth and put a knife at their throat. The province refused to believe that David was innocent. After scientists in Britain discovered David's DNA was not matching to the DNA found at the murder scene of Gail. They found out that the semen found on Gail matched that of Fisher. Joyce Milgaard was the one who put the case together, between Fisher and the Miller murder. The Miller family supported her about having the case re-opened. She said that she always knew her son was wrongfully accused of something he did not do.
