Job

The story of Job is an interesting story. Job had everything, a wonderful family, farms, and life was Grande. He feared god and turned away from evil. God was so proud of Job, he was the pride of his creations, and this made Lucifer a bit envious I think so he set out to destroy Job and undermine God. He did this by playing on what I say is God's ego. God said to Satan, have your considered my servant Job? There is not one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man who fears god and turns away from evil", and Satan goes on to egg on God by telling him the Job is only loyal because God has given him everything. God does not believe this and in the end allows Satan to do anything he wished upon Job less his Death. .
Satan did just this; he caused loathsome sores on Job from the soul of his foot to the crown of his head. The pain and agony Job must have been suffering is barely speak able. Job sat around the hot ashes using a potsherd, (a small broken shard http://www.hyperdictionary.com/dictionary/potsherd), to scrape himself down. Jobs wife pleaded with him to "Curse God and die" and Job responded to his wife saying shall we only accept the good and not the bad from God? She thought he did this to maintain his integrity but it was his integrity for his belief in God. .
God restores Job back to twice his former glory after his tribulation and test of his faith. His family and friends all gathered around to eat bread and share their sympathy and respects for Job after all the evil God had brought about him. Job lived to 140 and had an even more fruitful life than before after sufferings do greatly to prove his faith.
Here is how I interpret this story. Job was made to suffer by god to prove himself to Satan it seems to me. Satan wants to prove that if Job didn't have what he had, he wouldn't believe in God so God allows Satan to put Job through trials. What strikes me odd here is why does the almighty need to prove him/her self to Satan or anyone? This is an area unexplored in class so far.
