When George Rombold was told that his daughter's house had burnt down with his grandson Allan trapped inside, bereavement overwhelmed him. But as time passed, it is how George chose to deal with his grief that makes him such a remarkable example!.
Allan's dream through life, was to "Provide help for the helpless and hope for the hopeless." George decided that he wasn't going to let this amazing goal die with Allan. George knew pain, so he wanted to bring others comfort. George knew loss, so he wanted to avoid the loss of others. George knew that out of his suffering, something wonderful could be created. And so he set to work.
The result of George's harnessed sorrow resulted in the Allan C. Peifer Memorial Foundation. They began by enlisting over 20 volunteers and demanding that Albuquerque require smoke detectors in ALL rental properties. Once the bill was approved, George didn't stop there!.
The organization blossomed and began taking on more problems. Aid to battered women and children, shelters for homeless and pregnant teens, aid to fire victims and helping to feed starving families the list goes on and on. George feels that he is fulfilling he and Allan's dream by helping as many people as he can. George Rombold has shown me that you don't have to be a superstar to reach people. You don't need a million dollars to make a difference, all you need is a goal a dream, a passionate inner desire to seek out how you can make an impact on this world and just go for it!.
