Privacy of Cell Phone Cameras

Our society is driven by technology, learning and interactivity. Technology is constantly arising in new forms allowing for more communication and understanding. Not all technology developed however is great. Almost everything on this earth has at least one bad thing about it. The cellular phone theory first began in 1947 and a prototype was later developed in 1977 by Bell labs and AT&T. Since then mobile devices have come a long way in terms of all its technological features. One of the newest technologies introduced to the cell phone is the cell phone camera.
A cell phone camera is simply a cell phone with a colour screen and a small lens built in. This little digital camera has the ability to snap a picture anywhere and instantly send it to a contact. Although the quality of these images is quite less than a standard digital camera, camera phones are much more popular due to the sheer convenience. And they are popular to say the least. In just a couple years the resolution of these phones will be 5 times better than they are now. .

Almost all of the new innovations that we have here in North America come from one place, Japan. Cell phone cameras may seem like a fairly new thing here but these phones were released in Japan three years ago. Nearly 95% of the cell phones sold in Japan during 2003 came with a digital camera feature. This statistic shows the rapid increase of popularity in this little phone. In the next five years there will be about 1 billion camera phones sold in the world. This is just about how many regular cell phones that are in circulation today. Cell phone cameras have even surpassed the sale of DVD players, one of the greatest selling technologies, when they were released. Although this technology may seem like a cool James Bond gadget there are still several issues that have arisen in the use of these devices. Over the years cell phones have become very light and discreet, which does pose a security problem.
