Being a teenager in today's society, it is hard to focus on one's school, one's friends, and one's family, much less keep up to date on current world events. Many teenagers have not even discussed in length the impending war on Iraq. When asked about their stance on "The War" an average teen would assume that the speaker is referring to the War on Terrorism. However, another war is peaking over the horizon, with the leader of the storm being President Bush. From a teen view, many see more ends in this war than actual means. Many believe that the war against Iraq is not only unnecessary at the present time, but is a subject that should not be rushed into lightly or quickly. Many are against the war on Iraq because they believe this war will cause the loss of American lives and Iraqi civilians, because the US should allow more time for weapons inspections, and because they do not believe it is possible to fight a two front war and be successful.
When considering a war, one must first evaluate the consequences of loss of human life on both sides of the war. When speaking of entering this war, President Bush does not state that the people of Iraq are our enemies, only that Saddam Hussein is a 'murderous tyrant' that needs to be taken out of the picture (CBS news). President Bush does not take into account in any of his speeches how many American soldiers" lives will be lost trying to achieve his goal. Many military serving advisors, Senators, and Congressmen are against this war, because, unlike Bush, they know the hardships of war. Bush should listen to those who have been there and take their perspective into serious consideration. Also many Iraqi citizens are oppressed in Iraq and feel the same hatred toward Saddam Hussein as President Bush does. By starting a war on Iraq, President Bush will eventually, end up killing many innocent civilians that are fighting the same fight within their nation, as Bush is overseas.
