1. The "I Am" Assignment
When I was a pupil at a high school, I thought that I know English well, however when I began to study at LCC I understood that I cannot express my self, my dictionary stock is very small and I decided to do something. There are many different ways how to improve English language skills, and I want to share with you about those methods which I tired by myself. .
First of all, you should find a good dictionary. It should be the dictionary, which translates from English to English and finds synonyms to each word. Such kinds of dictionaries are very good for increasing your dictionary stock because you can find synonym to one or another word, and the next time when you will use that word, if it repeats often, you can change it with another word, which is the same by meaning but sounds in another way. .
Next, you should make small cards on which you could write five or seven words. When you did that, you can take a pencil and write down on them words that you want to learn, more cards better it is for you. You can also write idioms or expressions on those cards and when you will learn them, it will be easier and comfortable for you to communicate with people who speak on English. You should take those cards everywhere you go, and when you have free time, just drinking a coffee or riding the bus, you can take them out read fie times and try to remember.
Third step, make another cards and at home put the cards or stickers on the place where you usually spend the time. It could be everywhere, for example stickle them on your computer, shell or refrigerator. Try to look on them as often as you can. If you are seating near the computer and you decided to have a rest for 5 minutes look on the cards, which are stickled on your computer, read them and try to remember the words that you have read, it helps for sure.
Fourth, try to communicate with foreign people. Find some friends in different parts of the world, and communicate with them thought the internet.
