Of Mice And Men

Director Gary Sinise takes on the lead role of George in Of Mice and Men. Costarring with him is John Malkovich, playing the slow yet memorable character Lennie, who is uniquely portrayed. The movie does a great job of adapting from the book by John Steinbeck, while adding some great scenes that enhance and bring it together.
The movie involves two main characters, George Milton (Sinise), and Lennie Small (Malkovich), who have been friends for a long time. Times are hard during the Depression and not much work can be found for these two; there's always a little trouble wherever they go. They head towards a ranch to find work, not expecting anything else to happen. There they meet many characters, including Candy (Ray Walston), Slim (John Terry I), and Curley (Casey Siemaszko). Lennie and George don't expect Curley's wife (Sherilyn Fenn), the sly and sexy "tart" of the ranch. As the characters live and work at the ranch, they dig themselves deeper into the plot, getting closer to either trouble or freedom with every turn.
Overall the movie is fantastic. The dialogue is taken almost straight from the book, making it pleasing whether you have read it or not. The special effects enhance the movie, and the set is fairly good, although it does look a little shabbier than I imagined. I am very pleased with the amazing job the cast does, making their characters seem very realistic and more memorable. Of Mice and Men is a great example of what life was like during the Depression and also of Gary Sinise's fine direction. This movie is bound to be a classic and I have a feeling that it will be around for a long time.
