My voice tends to stand out in a crowd. I tend to let my voice take over, almost subconsciously. My thoughts come very fast and at that same speed I spit them out. I rarely have time to stop and think about what I"m saying. I tend to get in trouble. I speak my mind, but sometimes my mind can be dangerous. If I"m responding to someone else's words, usually what happens is that my response is perceived as offensive or arrogant, but I am not an arrogant person. People are just mistaken.
What does my voice represent? Like Peter Singer, my voice represents my passions. In Singer's article, "Solution to World Poverty," he is very blunt and straight forward with his voice. He instructs his reader what to do, without beating around the bush. I see a lot of myself in Singer's tone. I speak a lot and often about issues that I am fanatical about. I often find myself voicing my opinion about world peace, the homeless, and most importantly, professional sports. I am inclined to be sarcastic and direct with my voice. If something is bothering me, I will say so. On the contrary, if I see, read, or hear something that is wonderful, I was praise that specific voice with everything I've got. .
My voice also represents my mentality. I look at life through a pair of sarcastic-covered glasses. Everything I see or encounter is tinted with a sheer layer of wit and sarcasm. My voice is often (ok, fine always) sarcastic and witty. I try and find ways to transform "normal conversation" into my own, distinctive banter. So, in a sense, my voice represents my uniqueness, my individuality, my insanity. I say insanity because there isn't a single person out there that is like me. So, it's a good lunacy, like an Andy Warhol lunacy.
Peter Singer took a risk with his article. He took the risk of offending many a reader, having people disagree with him wholeheartedly. Singer's voice is very motivating for me.
