Organizational Behavior

Organizational Behavior, written by BOU VONG SOKHA.
             Overview of Organizational Behavior.
Organizational Behavior (OB) is the study of how people react in an individual and group setting as it relates to an organization's effectiveness. Long before the term was defined, groups practiced organizational behavior and certainly learned from their failures and successes. In order for organizations to be successful today, some of the same protocols exist that were present hundreds of years ago and this realization can immediately make a difference in today's business. .
In addition, Organizational Behavior knowledge is for everyone and not just for traditional managers. The new reality is that people in organizations -sales representatives, accountants, technicians, nurses, etc. - are assuming more responsibilities as companies remove layers of bureaucracy and give teams more autonomy over their work. Organizational Behavior helps every employee work more effectively within organizations. .
Therefore, what are the importances of OB and what roles and functions it plays in regards to management?.
             2. The importance of OB.
In today's business environment, many companies simply do not understand the importance of combining assets for success. For example, in the software arena many companies spend millions of dollars developing top-shelf products, then at the last minute hire untrained, untested sales representatives and expect the product to move. In this example, management has overestimated the importance of hard-technical skills and under-estimated the importance of the soft-people skills. They have too many rock movers and not enough organizers. Other software companies take a different approach. The emphasis is solely on finding potential clients who like the idea of a software package. The soft-people skills are emphasized while the technical, hard skills needed to create the product are ignored.
