             Of all the tools ever invented by humans, the computer is probably the one that has had the greatest impact on society. It has changed the way we work, the way we live, and maybe even how we think. Before, it was mainly offices and schools who computers in their operations, but today, personal computers are becoming more and more needed in homes and it has become more affordable than before.
             One of the most interesting and probably most fascinating area of computer science is Artificial Intelligence. This is a field in which much research has already been done, and in which even more needs to be done in the future. .
             So, what is Artificial Intelligence?.
             According to Webster's Dictionary it is the characteristic of a machine programmed to imitate human intelligence functions. It is also defined as a research in methods of programming designed to supplement human intellectual abilities. .
             Artificial Intelligence, or AI, attempts to understand intelligent entities. Thus, one reason theorists offer to study AI is to learn more about ourselves. AI strives to build intelligent entities as well as understand them. .
             Artificial Intelligence is being used in almost everything around us -computers, games, cellphones, etc. Our microwaves, washing machines, etc are "smart" because engineers and computer scientists programmed them to behave in specific ways. It is not something that is new to us. .
             AI basically is a computer science field which tries to imitate the human intelligence, or the capabilities of the human brain. It is called artificial because the intelligence programmed to machines is not natural, but programmed "made" by humans. .
