What are your vocational objectives and how will your proposed plan of graduate studies relate to them?.
My future career goal is to be a venture capitalist. On completion of the MBA program I want to obtain a position in the financial services industry. I believe that a position with an investment bank would expose me to a large number of companies and industries, as well as allow me to apply an international investment perspective. I would get an opportunity to learn about the structuring of sophisticated financial transactions. Such an exposure will allow me to move to higher levels in management positions as my skills and experiences grow. I would then be ready for a senior level management position in a venture capital organization. .
In my senior year at school I had decided to have a long-term aim of going for a career in business management. However, my parents and others advised me that the modern day business is becoming more and more technology driven. It would be very important that I have a good understanding of technical issues. I therefore joined the Bachelors Degree program in engineering.
After getting the engineering degree I got the opportunity to handle sales of automobiles spares and accessories at Hyundai of Korea who set up their unit in India. I knew how important was having an experience in a business enterprise before going on to pursue the MBA program. My job at Hyundai gave me a valuable insight into various aspects of business. I was involved in study of prospects of new products, their development and sourcing, launching the products and handling sales promotion. After gaining valuable experience for two years at Hyundai I have shifted to Carrier Aircon, where I would have worked for about one year before proceeding for the MBA at USA. I wanted to experience a different setting in Carrier Aircon an American multinational. The exposure to two different work cultures, both highly successful companies, has been tremendous.
