Evil

However, a shepherd rescues this baby and sends it to another kingdom, Corinth, whose king and queen raises him up like a son. When Oedipus is all grown up, he learns of his unfortunate fate and decides to exile himself away from Corinth hoping that this malevolent destiny would not come to him. Little did he know, Oedipus" parents from Corinth are not his legitimate parents and the place he eventually settles down in is Thebes, where he was cast away many years ago. By that time, he had already killed his legitimate father, Laios, saved the kingdom of Thebes from the Sphinx, and became king of Thebes. However, it was already too late when he discovered who he really was and what he had already done. In the end, Jocasta, his mother, decided to kill herself because she could not bear the truth and live on with her life, and Oedipus blinded himself so that he may never see the horror that he was bound to whenever he opened his eyes. In the end, he blinded himself so as to stop all the horror and evil that he lived with all his life.
However, in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, the evil portrayed to the readers creates a sense of dark and morbid imagery illuminated by Victor Frankenstein and the monster. Both have their own sense of evil prevalent within their mentality; both aspire for greatness, perfection, and being accepted by society. Victor is initially fascinated by the awe prospects of science, however, he soon becomes a disillusioned, guilt-ridden man who aims to kill and destroy all that is good and pure. This evil that overwhelms and consumes him throughout the latter part of life was initially suppressed by the good and purity he had in his childhood. Unfortunately, his interest and fascination in science soon grew into an endless obsession for perfection. This madness created the evil side of him in which he grew to be a stingy and mean person who did not stop until he reached perfection.
