After days and days of reading "Johnny Tremain" and answering questions, I have .
At first when I began reading it seemed like a boring book .
but after the second chapter I started to get more and more interested in it. I think Esther .
Forbes is a very good writer because she writes about Johnny's life and process of .
maturation but at the same time she implicates him in the revolution. Esther Forbes .
makes you visualize the scenes as if you were there.
I did not like the movie that much because I had other expectations after reading the .
book. I think the only good thing about the movie is that you get to see some of the .
characters, but still they were not like I had pictured them in my mind. Walt Disney, the .
producer of the movie Johnny Tremaine added scenes, changed the roles of different .
people in the story, and he left out quite a bunch of characters. I was expecting the movie .
to be better then the book because you could actually see what was happening and you .
could see the characters" faces. I was very disappointed. .
Esther Forbes wants to make the revolution stand out in a way. She explains the cause of .
the revolution through a story. She wants you to get some knowledge from this book, she .
wants you to be aware of an important event in America's history. On the other hand the .
producer of the movie, Walt Disney, wants you to enjoy the film. He is also telling you .
about the revolution but that is not what he wants to point out, what he wants to point out .
is Johnny's life.
The book and the movie both have advantages and disadvantages considering the .
different tools of communication they use. A writer can tell you what a person thinks or .
feels at a certain time. In a movie you can only guess what a character is thinking about .
or what feelings he has. When reading the book you just imagine the way the characters .
look like and you see them the way you want. On the other hand the movie shows you .
