Those mountains are the Bavarian Alps that blend into the Tirplesese Alps at the Austrian border. Germany's highest peak, The Zugspitze, lies in these mountains.              Bavaria is quite a tourist region. Thousands of tourists visit Bavaria for its beautiful mountains and lakes each year. The main crops in Bavaria are barley, hay, hops, oats, potatoes, rye, and wheat. The production of beer uses hops. Beer is a vary important product of Bavaria. .
             Bavaria's two most important cities are Munich and Nuremburg. Munich is Bavaria's larges city and its capital. It manufactures electrical products, optical interments, and many other products. Munich is a center for printing and publishing. The second largest city in Bavaria, Nuremburg is famous for its toys and gingerbread. Other important Bavarian cities include Augsburg, Wurzburg, and Regensburg. Bayreuth, Oberammegau, Berchtesgaden, and Dachau are some of the more famous towns. .
             Bavaria has been a duchy, a kingdom, a republic, and a state at various times in history. The Celts first inhabited the reagen. It became a duchy of Germany after germanic tribes invaded in the 500's. From 911 to 1180, when the reagen came into the hands of the Wittelsbach family, Bavarian dukes ruled the duchy. Nepolion made Bavaria a kingdom in 1805. Then in 1871 Germany was unified and Bavaria became a state of the German Enpire. After The Great War (WWI), 1914 to 1918, it was breifly a republic, and then part of Germany again.
