rate of reaction

Investigation into the Rate Of Reactions.

I am investigation how concentration effects the rate of reaction. .
Sodium Thiosulphate reacts with hydrochloric acid forming sulphur, water, sodium chloride and sulphur dioxide. The sodium chloride is dissolved in the water and the water is still transparent. The sulphur is precipitated because it isn't soluble. This can be seen because if turns the solution opaque as more sulphur is produced the solution turns more and more opaque. If the solution was left for a long time one could see the sulphur solid settled at the bottom. I will start timing from when the two mixtures are mixed till when the cross isn't visible anymore. The equation is shown below. .
             Na2S2O3 (aq) + 2HCl(aq) S (s) + 2NaCl (aq) + H2O (l) + SO2 (aq).
             Apparatus list.
             Boiling tubes Sodium Thiosulphate.
             Washable pen Hydrochloric acid .
             Burette Stopwatch.
             Thermometer Test Tube rack.
             Distilled Water Thermometer.
             Water trough Ruler.
             Beaker.
             Diagram.
             Method.
             1. The Sodium Thiosulphate and water solution were made and placed in a water trough.
             2. The Hydrochloric acid was measured out into different boiling tubes and place also in the water trough. .
             3. The solutions were then mixed and the time was recorded till the cross disappeared.
             4. All the different concentrations were tried out and repeated once times. If the two results contradict each other the experiment will be then carried out a third time, then it will be easy to tell which of the two were anomalous and will be discarded. .
The volumes I am going to use are shown below: -.
             Solution Volume of HCl 2 mol/dm3(cm3) Volume of Na2S2O3 40g per dm3(cm3) Volume of H2O(cm3) Concentration (g/dm3).
             A 6 24 0 40.
             B 6 20 4 33 1/3.
             C 6 16 8 26 2/3.
             D 6 12 12 20.
             E 6 8 16 131/3.
             F 6 4 20 6 2/3.
While I am doing the experiment I will make sure that I keep the acid away from anyone and myself because it is corrosive, I will make sure it is not in a position to fall. The gas produced is poisonous and to make sure I do not inhale it, there will be ventilation and I will not view it from the top.
